This is in anticipation of internet connectivity concerns that may arise because of the typhoon aftermath.

The Virtual Philippine Blue Tourism Forum is a three-part webinar / virtual forum consisting of panel discussions involving experts from the academe, government agencies, non-government organizations, and industry players to tackle tourism growth in fragile ecosystems and how they affect the communities in a destination.

The theme of the Forum is “Managing Tourism Growth in Fragile Ecosystems: Coastal Destinations in the New Normal Scenario”. The focus is on coastal destinations as the Philippines is an archipelagic nation which has one of the longest coastlines in the world. While the country’s major tourism product is beach holidays, it is also one of the areas prone to suffer from mass tourism, unsustainable development, and poor planning. Moreover, due to the pandemic causing an upheaval in all aspects of tourism travel, it would be good to discuss what health and safety measures are expected in beach and island destinations in the new normal scenario.

Subject: Invitation to the Online Train the Trainers Workshop: ASEAN Tourism Professional Registration System, 30 September – 2 October 2020

I am pleased to inform you that the Online Train the Trainers Workshop on the ASEAN Tourism Professional Registration System (ATPRS) will be held on 30 September – 2 October 2020, with the support from the ASEAN-Australia Development Cooperation Program Phase II (AADCP II).

The workshop aims to: (1) train and familiarise the ASEAN Member States and other relevant stakeholders with the new System; (2) enable the participants to develop skills and knowledge to train other colleagues in their respective organisations/institutions; (3) provide a platform for the participants to review the new System against  new professional development   in the industry; (4) exchange information about best practices in competency-based training and assessment for Tourism Professionals through the System; and (5) provide technical resources for ATPRS users.

In this regard, I am pleased to invite you and your delegations to attend the abovementioned Workshop and look forward to receiving your confirmation of attendance by 29 September 2020. To maximise the outputs of the Workshop, I kindly request your assistance to extend this invitation to relevant users of ATPRS in your respective countries, including TPCBs, NTPBs, Master Assessors/Trainers, National Assessors/Trainers, ASEAN Tourism Professionals, Tourism Industry, as well as Tourism Training Institutions.
