The TIBFI Board held its first meeting for the year on January 15 at the King Crab Restaurant at San Juan. In full attendance were TIBFI officers Tina Aquino from HRAP (Chairman), Paul Lim So from PTAA (Vice-Chair), Dean Ediser dela Santa from UP-AIT (Treasurer), Tinette Capistrano from PACEOS (Secretary), Gloria Baken-Siy from AAHRMEI (Auditor), Anabelle Ochoa from AHRM (PRO) and Danny Edralin from NUWHRAIN-CENTRO (Trustee). Also in attendance were TIBFI Advisers Dir. Rica Bueno and Arlene Alipio (DOT) together with Dir. Imee Taganas and Marissa Gamurot from TESDA.

Manila - The Department of Tourism, headed by the Office of Industry Manpower Development, held an appreciation gathering for resource speakers and partner agencies at the Diamond Hotel last January 5, 2017. Along with fellow ASEAN Master Trainers and Assessors as well as a variety of tourism stakeholders like representatives of Tourist police (TOPCOP), tour guides, accommodation personnel, waiters, cooks, tourist transport drivers, spa/massage therapists, retail staff, community guides, etc. we were called upon individually, to receive a Plaque of Recognition.

Opening the event was Director Rica C. Bueno, from the Office of Tourism Standards and Regulations (OTSR), who expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the resource persons and stakeholders. According to Dir. Bueno, their pool of resource speakers and range of training modules have expanded since 2010 from around 15 trainers & modules to more than 55 speakers/experts and 31 modules today and still growing.

The Induction of the new TIBFI Board for 2017-2019 was held last May 2, 2017 with the Department of Tourism Usec. Alma Rita Jimenez as the inducting officer. Usec. Jimenez welcomed and congratulated the new board with a short but meaningful message. As quoted by Usec. Jimenez, "TIBFI service is to be passionate and find purpose as this will sustain the organization".

The new TIBFI board held a meeting last May 2, 2017 at the Department of Tourism, Makati. The meeting focused on the planning of the 4th TIBFI HR Congress to be scheduled on the 3rd week of September 2017 at Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.

The 4th TIBFI Human Resource Congress focuses on the training and development of human resources as well as a discussion of issues and factors that influence entrepreneurship and employment in tourism firms. Four days in length, the event will feature 3 main activities: (1) A re-training program on tourism skills for assessors and trainors, (2) MRA awareness and toolbox immersion programs, and (3) a full-day congress that discusses management practices on human resources that lead to sustainable outcomes. Pre- and post-conference tours will also be offered to participants.

The 1st General Membership Meeting of Tourism Industry Board Foundation, Inc. (TIBFI) was held on 15 March 2017 at University Hotel, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City. It was hosted by the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) and the GMM was attended by the official and alternate representative of the members of organization, 14 out of 16 members of TIBFI.

The election of the new TIBFI Board for 2017- 2019 was held at the latter part of the General Membership Meeting on 15 March 2017 at University Hotel, UP

Campus, Diliman, Quezon City.
The Board of Advisors served as the Election Committee were Mr. Ryan Sebastian from DOT, Ms. Marissa Gamurot from TESDA and TIBFI secretariat Ms. Karem Alina Phua.
The new TIBFI Board for year 2017- 2019 are the following:  Ms. Ma. Christina Aquino of HRAP is the new Chairman, Mr. Paul Lim So of PTAA re-elected as Vice- Chairman, Ms. Monette Hamiln of PACEOS as Secretary, Dean Edieser Dela Santa of UP- AIT as Treasurer, Dr. Gloria Baken Wong- Siy of AAHRMEI as Auditor, Ms. Anabelle Ochoa Moreno of AHRM as PRO and the Board of Directors are Mr. Daniel Edralin, Ms. Eleonor Ogarte and Mr. Hessel Larcia of NUWHRAIN APL.
