DOT Online Learnings

The Department of Tourism is developing online learning courses for tourism stakeholders.

Background and Rationale

In view of the Extended Community Quarantine (ECQ) brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Tourism through the Office of Industry Manpower Development is developing online learning courses for tourism stakeholders. With the advice and guidance of Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, the programs were conceptualized as an alternative to the regular training programs conducted by the DOT to give tourism stakeholders the opportunity to learn and stay relevant and updated even during the ECQ. Consistent with the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act, the program is one of the activities identified by the DOT to assist and encourage stakeholders as they cope, transition to the new normal and move towards recovery.

Awareness Before Change: Maintaining Emotional Wellness During COVID-19 Crisis (April 24, 2020)

III.  Awareness Before Change:  Maintaining Emotional Wellness During COVID-19 Crisis (April 24, 2020)

Brief Description
The ABC (Awareness Before Change) learning module teaches us to open our senses to better understand our feelings, emotions and behavior during an extreme condition like COVID-19.  Anxiety and fear are normal amidst a crisis but awareness, acceptance and changing one’s mindset are necessary to cope with the uncertain future.  This session will provide insights on how to rediscover and reinvent oneself during this COVID-19 crisis.

Targeted participants are tourism professionals including managers, supervisors  and workers from tourism enterprises such as tourist accommodation facilities, travel and tour operators, MICE facilities, food establishments and other tourism related enterprises, tour guides and other tourism front-liners.

Teresita "Yeyette" R. Albert has more than 30 years of facilitating experience.  Her educational background in Guidance Counseling and Psychology has helped her enable others to ignite the best in themselves through the various programs she has undertaken through the years.  Touching people that have crossed her path, as diverse as top level executives to house help, security personnel and teenagers to young adults; she has successfully gone beyond technical platforms in order to show the human personal side of how the best in one’s self when combined with the best of others, can enable everyone to create a clearer, more fulfilling future for themselves, whether it be in their personal or business lives.
